🌎 Exploration Update

I've made a pretty big change to how custom structures and terrain work on the server.

Previously, we were using BetterStructures alongside a bunch of different structure packs. It worked well enough, but it was getting pretty heavy and wasn't really the direction I wanted to keep going with.

I've now moved over to a much more modern and lightweight datapack-based system.

🏚️ Structures

The structures themselves have had a pretty significant upgrade.

There's a lot more variety, and they're designed to fit into the world much more naturally rather than feeling like something that was just pasted into vanilla terrain.

The new system also makes it much easier to keep adding new structures in the future without having to keep adding more plugins and packs.

⛰️ Custom Terrain

I've also added custom terrain generation.

The main goal here is to keep the world feeling like Minecraft.

It's not supposed to completely overhaul the terrain or make the server feel modded. Instead, it adds more interesting landscapes and variation while still keeping that familiar vanilla look.

Basically, vanilla Minecraft, just a little more interesting.

⚙️ Why the change?

The old setup was starting to become a bit of a mess with BetterStructures and all the different packs, so moving to datapacks gives us a much cleaner foundation to build on.

It also means we can keep expanding the world generation without constantly adding more stuff to the server.

So, in short:

  • BetterStructures + structure packs → modern datapack generation
  • Vanilla terrain → custom vanilla-style terrain
  • More structures → more variety
  • Less overhead → easier to expand

There is already quite a bit of new stuff out there, so if you're exploring the world, you'll probably start coming across things you haven't seen before.

And this is only the start.

Go explore.
